Welcome to Raven's Readings. I'm resuming a series I paused last year. This is Chapter 12 of The Inimitable Jeeves, a collection of short stories written by P.G. Wodehouse in 1923. Jeeves, a valet, and his employer Bertie Wooster, are all characters in dozens of these little vignettes that poke fun at the upper classes. . The stores are all told from the point of view of Bertie.
Last chapter, Bertie's friend Bingo had tried to attract Charlotte, a young but peculiar socialist woman, by embracing Bolshevism, including his fake beard. She's impressed, but he clashed with another admirer, Comrade Butt, and while in disguise Bingo managed to insult his rich uncle at a protest. Meanwhile, Jeeves is miffed with Bertie, and reluctant to help him rescue Bingo.
