Welcome to Raven's Readings. I'm reading from The Sign of the Four, written by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1890. This novel features his character, Sherlock Holmes, a detective who excels in observation, deduction, logic, and forensics. Assisting Holmes is Doctor John Watson. The Sherlock stories are narratives written from the POV of Watson, as he attempts to record and publicize Sherlock's work. This novel is the second in the series.
Last chapter, Holmes and Watson were searching for the boat the criminals had escaped in. To help in this, Holmes has sent out his band of street kids, the Baker Street Irregulars. Now all he has to do is wait.
