I will be reading to you now from two more of my own fiction stories.
These two were both written in response to the same type of prompt. For each I got three random but interesting photos, and had to use them for a story, 1000 words max. I like writing to a variety of challenges, and have done over a hundred of these so far. You can find all my short stories via my website .
For the first, written in 2022, the challenge was to write a story that examined how a character manages their stress. 1000 words max. A random character generator was used to give them three character traits. I got the traits of naïve, caring and coarse, and decided to do as three separate characters.
The next story is from 2019, and was written for a contest for the site NYC Midnight.
It was a micro-fiction – 250 words in 24 hours. I was given a genre, an action, and a word to include. My prompts were fairy tale, falling down the stairs, and silence. I did a twist on the usual, of course.
